Story[]
Dawson absconds with Brooks's boat in order to save Jen and Pacey who are stranded at sea in a storm. Brooks is furious, but Mrs. Ryan intervenes and gets Brooks to settle on Dawson working off his debt as restitution. Dawson works tasks around Brooks's house by the Creek and they do not get along, Brooks irritated at the situation and also a grumpy sort, while Dawson's attempts at friendliness seems futile. Dawson discovers that Brooks doesn't have many people in his life and intends to try and reach the old grump. Brooks gradually accepts the friendship Dawson offers him. When Dawson discovers that Brooks was a big director in the '50s, he convinces Brooks to let Dawson do a documentary on his life and experiences working in '50s Hollywood.
