About[]
The restaurant is co-owned by Gale Leery and Bodie Wells. Not much is known about the original building, but Mitch Leery scouted it and presented it to Gale when they were separated. He posited that owning a restaurant was actually her dream originally, not his. Gale went ahead and started the business, hiring Mitch as a General Manager, who suggested Gale take on Bodie Wells as her partner.

- The original name was the Fish Bistro before Gale and Mitch landed on Leery's Fresh Fish.[1]
- Filming for the restaurant took place at Water Street Restaurant on 5 South Water Street in downtown Wilmington, NC. The restaurant occupied a building dating back to 1825. Since 2020, the location has been home to Michael's on the Waterfront.
