She's wound so tight, she's like a violin string.

Miss Constance Freckling is a guest character in Season 3 of Dawson's Creek. She is portrayed by K Callan.

Character[]

Constance Freckling is a tightly wound but kind, somewhat out of touch, and lonely older woman. She is very well-to-do, presumably from the Famous Freckling's Candies fortune, and lives in a large estate next door to Henry Parker, or "Hank", her occasional "handy boy" who thinks might be her best friend.

Each year, Miss Freckling looks forward to only two things: the World Orchid Conference every spring and the Annual Homecoming Queen Gala in Capeside. As the eldest living HQ, Constance is in charge of hosting the Gala along with the current Homecoming Queen.

Story[]

In the fall of 1999, the rebellious Jen Lindley is reluctantly crowned Homecoming Queen and clashes with Miss Freckling, who welcomes her into the club of former Homecoming Queens but is turned off after she views Jen as unbecoming and ungrateful. However, Henry advocates for Constance and she and Jen are able to plan the event together, albeit with strict rules. Jen insists on bringing Henry as her date.

At the Gala, Miss Freckling looks around in delight. Jen arrives late, wearing a not-so-elegant frock, and introduces the entertainment for the evening - drag queens! After some initial shock and hesitation, Constance eventually realizes that all is well and everyone is having a blast.

Finally loosened up, Constance spends the rest of the evening laughing and socializing with Jen and the queens. She warns Jen about leading Henry on as he obviously adores Jen very much and Constance worries for him. Constance reveals that when she was 17, her heart had been broken by a boy who proposed to her in a graveyard, only to then run off to California with another girl. She has remained alone ever since.
