Thanks to the hard work and effort of owner and instructor Penny Pretty, The Starlight dance studio has remained a community staple in spite of financial worries. Still the only dance studio in Capeside, Starlight provides dance lessons at affordable prices from ballet and tap for children to ballroom dancing for adults.[1]
Each year, the Starlight offers a $1,500 scholarship to the high school student who best exemplifies the spirit and grace of ballroom dancing.
During her junior year, requiring a partner, Joey enlists the help of Pacey and considers herself a shoo-in for the prize as participation is not high amongst fellow classmates. Unfortunately, following two classes and an eventful and unexpected drop in from Dawson and Jen, Penny announces there's no scholarship this year as finances are tight.[2]
